Yamal LNG Production Facility
The Yamal LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) Project is located in the Sabetta Region of the Arctic Circle of the Russian Federation. Due to the harsh weather conditions prevailing in the project area, Yamal LNG has remarkable features.
The project, which includes French, Japanese and Russian employers and business partners, distinguishes itself from other projects with modular construction method and technology employed to counter the harsh and challenging climatic and geographical conditions.
The first phase of the project was completed in a region where temperatures sometimes dropped to -50 degrees Celsius with 120 days without sunshine. The first delivery was made in 2018 at a ceremony attended by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. Planned to be completed in 2019, the project will have an annual production capacity of 16.5 million tons with the completion of its three units, each with a capacity of 5.5 million tons of LNG per year.
